Hi all, I went to Kampong Glam a few days ago. My class was very excited. On our way on the bus, some chatted, others kept quiet. The tour guides talked about some of the history at Kampong glam. I looked out of the window in the bus to see which way were we taking to Kampong Glam. We took the KPE tunnel. As for after that, i don't know which way were we taking. At last, we reached our destination. We walked to the gate of the Malay heritage centre which looks like the photo below.
It used to be the sultan's bungalow. Our guide told us that in the past, the bungalow's windows were always open and everytime, there would be children running around the front garden. But there were no trees in the front garden in that time. We moved on to the restaurant that is connected to the Bungalow. Which looks like this one. It used to be a guest house. The person that is at the side of the picture is my friend.
At the gate of the guest house in the past, there was a guard house which is the one below. My friend, Zheng Yang, said that the gates should have at least two of them as we said that it really looks much like a sniper house.
After which, we went to the grounds near the bungalow. It was an empty space and we were just in time for Instructer William's show about a type of cloth that i kinda forgot its name. He said that in the olden days, when there were street fights, it acts as an important weopan, not like machine guns or something. But as it is quite thick, it can block your enemies' attacks then when u twist it and hit it hard at the enemies' legs, it might cause them to fall. When Instructer William ask who wanted to try, i decided to give it a try. He chose Jing Wei, my classmate to pretend to be my enemy. so I managed to give him a few whacks before instructer ask us to stop. We went to the back garden and took a look at the plants that the people planted. There was a starfruit tree, papaya tree and a few others too.
We went to the mosque that the Sultan used to pray to. I could not get a good shot as there was not much time left. This is the picture.
After going in, we went to the nearby stalls to have our break. there was a stall selling toys, marbles and more. I bought a fan for my tution teacher as there was only a week more before i won't be seeing her again. She only teaches till p4. after that, i went to 7 eleven to buy a drink, and a cup noodles. It was the 1st time i tried it and it was delicious. After that, we went to the shops at the streets and saw a perfume sho that has a few things that Instructer Iris wanted to show us. We were allowed to buy a bottle or 2. i bought a male perfume, the name is Darker for my father and a female one, the name is Bintang Jawa, for my mum.
Thats the end of the trip. We went back to school after that trip.
